We were asked to grab some photos of the York Christmas Market (St Nicholas Christmas Fair), and as a family we’ve been visiting our favourite city of York more and more recently. Luckily York is only about an hour from us, and every time we visit we find more places to see and more things to do.

Unlike most years we decided to visit on a Saturday, and in hindsight that was probably a bad idea. We did want to capture the feel and how the market draws people in from near and far, but as photographers we struggled to actually capture everything we wanted as it was wall to wall packed. We do have plans to revisit during the week in the hope it will be a little less busy.

We somehow made our way through the crowds to the Shambles Market which we frequently visit and just snapped away. We even spoke with several of the stall owners who were just lovely and accommodating, and we even had the pleasure of speaking with fellow photographers who had some of their photographs of York for sale inside the Made in Yorkshire Yuletide Village.

As we mostly work as wedding photographers, it was really nice to hone our skills on something completely different.

All photos below were taken with the Sony A7Riii camera, and the Sony FE 24-70 f2.8 GM and Sony FE 55mm f1.8 lenses.
